got the cats an early christmas present. three cats, one toy, $5, that's my pet budget. they cats, they don't know it's christmas. i'm going to build them a perch in the new year with pieces of tree i salvaged from the curb, but for now they get a green pig. it vibrates when you pull it's tail. ponyo's claimed it as hers, but she kind of deserves it, she's a giving cat, she's willing to clean pepito's crusty old tail. merry christmas ponyo, glad your cat-mom abandoned you under our porch.
i like to wander around malls around the holidays and it's not even to buy anything. this time i went to a mall i've never been to before. place versailles. they had deer! it's not very nice to keep deer in a mall, but they had a nice little hut where they could hide out, and it wasn't crazy busy & loud. remember back in the day when you could get a hand full of animal feed for 25 cents? well it's not a quarter anymore, it's a dollar. but the best dollar i've ever spent. it's not everyday you get a bunch of deer licking food out of your hand. my hand was pretty sticky afterwards and i had to rinse it off in the mall fountain, and then took my d.i.y. cold fx, ginseng & echinacea.
the sleepy ferrets were in a pet store. i didn't think ferrets could be so cute. i try not to support pet shops that carry live animals especially ones that sell cats & dogs, so i just went in for a quick tour & then bought my cat food across the street at the GIANT loblaws.
made sushi for the first time today... some of the worked out, and some were a bit of a disaster. combinations of smoked mackerel, avocado, cucumber, carrot & pickled radish... oh crap, that reminds me, i forgot to eat the ginger i bought earlier today. crap. the cats are circling like sharks. i fed ponyo the mackerel skin.
today's customer service level? apologetic & courteous even though deep down (ok, not so deep) i want to stab you. first of all 80% of the time i ship anything to australia, it's a problem. shipping time to australia (by air) has been averaging about one month. does the package have a layover? go on vacation? how about the time one of my packages was quarantined for 6 weeks in australia? australia, why are you so far away?
i have no issue w/my australian customers, they're nice reasonable people. (ok, maybe not this one) its just that stuff doesn't get there in anywhere near a reasonable amount of time, and i have to field an insane amount of "where's my stuff?" emails. and to ship something relatively small to australia via canada post at a reasonable cost ($9), you get insurance for up to $100, but you don't get a tracking number. if you want a tracking number for let's say a small envelope with some earrings, its $64. $64!!! more than the earrings themselves. ugh.
efff christmas. ok bye.
i'll be at souk@sat all weekend! come for a visit, i'll have a lot of new jewelry with me! i got a sneak peek while i was setting up this morning and there's a ton of amazing stuff. perfect presents for the holidays. speaking of presents, i scored two super pairs of shoes, i walked by the aldo outlet on the way home, they were having a good sale. $40 & $50 & sensible & all leather. if you've seen me recently, you know my current shoe situation is kind of sad, my biker boots are disgusting and full of holes & my rubber boots squeak. so i needed some somewhat non cruddy shoes. right? right? see you at the souk!
